Your smile is the most powerful non-verbal communicating tools that you have. When used, a smile communicates; "Hey, I'm happy, I'm friendly, and I'm feeling goooood!" A smile communicates joy and confidence but; if your pearly whites aren't so pearly anymore or your teeth are dull and discoloured, chances are you're not using this powerful tool "Your Smile" as much as you should be.
Ladies and gentlemen, as we age our teeth become less and less sparkling white. They get stained, they look dull and discoloured; due to the foods we eat, the drinks we drink, and sometimes the medications we take. But here's some good news, whitening your teeth and restoring your "Thousand Watt Grin" has never been easier. And by the way, having a bright white smile just makes you feel good. You know, like when you buy a new pair of shoes and put them on, you're like "Yo, I'm walking around like check me out I got new shoes!" Well having a white smile is kind of like wearing new shoes.. on your face. So without further a due, let's talk about the 4 main ways to whiten your teeth..
Over the Counter Whitening Toothpaste
The good news; it's inexpensive, the bad news; you have to use it 3x a day for 27 years in order to have it lighten your teeth 2 shades whiter - I don't know if we've actually done the research right on that, that's is just an assumption. In our opinion, over the counter whitening toothpastes are a waste of your whitening time and more just for maintinence.
Professional Bleaching or Whitening by your Dentist
You go in you say "Hey doc, my teeth aren't so shiny anymore, can you whiten them?!" He'll say "Sure, sit down!". He's going to make moulds of your teeth, once your moulds are complete your dentist will actually fill the moulds with a bleaching solution; comprised essentially of a high strength peroxide gel. He'll slap those bad boys in your mouth and you'll sit there for 30-45minutes, then voila, your teeth are 2-3 shades whiter. The up side is this is very effective, the peroxide actually removes surface stains and it penetrates your teeth removing some of the set in stains as well. The other upside, it's safer due to it being applied by a professional. But the downside is it's pricey. And unfortunately, you'll probably have to go in for 2-3 more treatments to get that smile pearly white.
Mobile Laser Teeth Whitening
That's right lasers! The future is here! They're using lasers for everything these days, including whitening teeth. And here's how it works. You go in, you sit down, they put the bleaching solution on your teeth. Then they're going to give you a sweet pair of goggles, and they'll stick a laser or a light on your mouth. This light will speed up the process, so you'll get a much whiter smile (in a much shorter amount of time). It'll reduce tooth sensitivity whilst also being a lot cheaper then going to the Dentist. Check out Dentaluxe Australia. They offer mobile teeth whitening services across Australia, they go to you so you can get your teeth whitened in your own home. Both convenient and affordable!
In-Home Teeth Whitening
So as far as in-home options are concerned there are a ton of options out there. First option of the home teeth whitening treatment that works is the whitening strips, most people have seen these before, and some of you have most likely tried it. You can buy them pretty much anywhere. They're these little strips that have whitening agent in them. You put them on your teeth, then rock and roll! Unfortunately it takes time but most importantly they take consistency. The second option are home teeth whitening kits. Similar to laser whitening, these kits are take home and do-it-yourself. There are many brands out there, but it's all about choosing the one that's right for you. We suggest staying away from the one's claiming to be "all-natural" or "peroxide-free". If you're going to be spending your money, and you want that whiter smile.. make sure it has peroxide. Otherwise you'd just be better off getting an over the counter teeth whitening toothpaste.
Now if you have yellow teeth and haven't tried any of these options above - your smile and confidence might be suffering. There are some things you can do in-home, but you can also just go and talk to your dentist, they can help get those grills pearly white for you. The real deal is, it might cost a little bit of money, but it's well worth the investment. It pays off in the long run. Also, regardless of the alinement of your teeth, a white jacked-up smile is a whole lot better than a yellow jacked-up smile.. just saying!
